Cosplay Competition

Cosplay at The Official Red Dwarf Convention

Whether you’re a smeghead in sequins, a mechanoid with a penchant for ironing, or the Cat in his Sunday-best (which is every day), the Red Dwarf Convention is your chance to bring your favourite characters to life.

Our fans are some of the most creative in the galaxy, and cosplay is one of the highlights of the weekend. From screen-accurate recreations to delightfully daft interpretations, we love seeing your takes on the crew, the ship, and the wonderfully weird life forms they encounter.

The Cosplay Parade & Contest

On Sunday 19th at 4pm, strut your stuff on the main stage in our cosplay parade. Prizes will be awarded for:

  • Best Likeness – so good we’ll check for doubles in a parallel universe.

  • Best Original Twist – same crew, different dimension.

  • Funniest Costume – the one that makes us spit out our chicken vindaloo.

  • Junior Smeghead – for our younger fans (under 16).

No matter your skill level, you’re welcome to join—this is about celebrating creativity, not just perfection.

Cosplay Guidelines

  • Keep it family-friendly—remember, there may be mini-smegheads in the audience.

  • No real weapons or dangerous props. (If Kryten can improvise a weapon from a sausage, so can you.)

  • Costumes must allow you to move safely around the venue—stairs and visibility are important, unless you fancy the “Rimmer in the AR suite” look.

Tips for First-Time Cosplayers

  • Don’t panic if your sewing skills aren’t “Hollywood standard”—cardboard, duct tape, and enthusiasm are very Red Dwarf.

  • Comfort is key. You’ll want to enjoy the day, not collapse like Lister after a vindaloo marathon.

  • Test your costume before the event—especially if it lights up, moves, or has a headpiece, and most importantly, make sure you can fit through a door way!

So, dust off your goldfish bowl helmets, polish your GELF fur, and let’s see the best dressed crew in the universe!
